Family Baby Blessings
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11
Recognizing that our children belong to God and following the example of Hannah in 1 Samuel 1:23-28, parents can make a public commitment to raise and train their children according to God’s Word. This commitment is during the Family Baby Blessing ceremony that is held during Family and Friends Sunday, which is on the third Sunday of every month. It is a time for family, friends, and the church body to express their support of the parents and the children. Time is set aside during the service for the purpose of dedicating children before the Lord. The parents and children who have registered to receive the Family Baby Blessing are invited to the front of the congregation and then, in concert with the congregation, Pastor Jefferson anoints, using holy oil, lays hands on the child and lifts the family up in prayer. The baby is then introduced to the congregation. Following the service, a certificate of dedication is mailed to each family.
Ages for Blessings/dedication are 2 years and younger. Call our church office at (973) 643-2267 to sign up for our next Family Baby Blessing.
